Richard Mayo

Associate

Richard graduated from Newcastle University in 2009, and after spending a year out to travel, began working for an offshore engineering company in 2010. Then moving into the built environment sector and working for AKTII and Webb Yates Engineers for 10 years, before joining Evolve in 2024 as an Associate.

During that time he has worked on projects across residential, commercial, leisure and education sectors. This included a number of refurbishment and extension schemes of different shapes and sizes, these projects also covered heritage and listed buildings, and presented an office case study at an IStructE reuse conference in 2021.

Richard has also been involved in timber design across a range of projects, including the Treehouse in Elephant Park, the Rye apartments in Peckham and 134 Old Street, all using CLT. As well as using a timber joist and concrete composite floor structure for a PassivHaus scheme.

Richard has been involved in developing sustainable approaches to the built environment and structural engineering solutions.

Richard has two young children, who get most of his free time. When he can, he tries to get out on his bike and, after a few years of track racing at Herne Hill and Welwyn velodromes, now enjoys finding off road trails to explore in Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
